The Auto Expo 2012 was launched today at Delhi. Total 50 vehicles will be launched out of which 32 will be cars. Despite the economic slowdown and higher interest rates, global companies such as BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Renault, Ford, Maruti Suzuki have come to Delhi with their guns blazing on their respective products. The luxury market always had tight competition between BMW and Mercedes-Benz. While Audi tries to squeeze in that sector by launching Audi Q3 which will be a competition to the hugely successful Mini-SUV X1, which will be priced around INR 22 Lakhs. If Audi is successful in this venture it will move to 2nd position ahead Mercedes-Benz and behind BMW. The iconic Mini Cooper from BMW will also be showcased in the Expo
The other line-up of cars to be showcased are:
* Maruti’s Ertiga in MUV category, Price INR 7-8 Lakhs (Estimated)
* Audi’s Q3 in Luxury category, Price INR 22 Lakhs (Est.)
* Renault’s Duster in SUV category, Price INR Sub-10 Lakhs (Est.)
* Ford’s Eco Sport in SUV category, Price INR Sub-10 Lakhs (Est.)
Duster and Eco sport are supposed to compete with M&M Scorpio and Tata Safari.
These Cars were showcased today in the Expo. Nissan’s Evalia a 7-seater car. M&M’s Rexton a SUV which is developed along SSangYong,the Korean company which M&M acquired last year. Maruti Suzuki’s Concept for compact SUV named XA Alpha. Bajaj RE60 on the lines of Tata Nano.
There will be updated products from Tata named Merlin which is refined version of Safari. Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva and Force Motors’ Force One.
Also debuting this time at the expo will be French auto brand Peugeot and British motorcycle maker Triumph.
